ENCAC Announces 2025 Umhlanga Reed Dance Preparations
The Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture has officially commenced preparations for the annual Umhlanga Reed Dance ceremony, one of the kingdom's most celebrated cultural events. ENCAC Director General Dr. Bandla Mdluli confirmed that planning committees have been established across all four administrative regions to coordinate logistics, security, and programme activities for the event. "The Umhlanga Reed Dance is a cornerstone of our cultural identity. Each year, we work to ensure that the ceremony maintains its cultural significance while providing a safe and meaningful experience for all participants," said Dr. Mdluli. The ceremony is expected to take place in late August at the Ludzidzini Royal Village, with thousands of young women from across the kingdom participating in the traditional reed presentation to the Queen Mother.
